Looking for “Miss New Zealand 1927” MISS V. BOLES IS SELECTED FIFTH AUCKLAND SEMI-FINALIST SOMEWHERE in New Zealand is a girl unknown to fame. In all probability she is not anticipating that Opportunity will knock at her door. She does not realise that within a few months she will be speeding across the Pacific, a first-class passenger accompanied by a chaperon, en route to Hollywood. Neither does she realise that she will go abroad as the selected representative of her native land, that she will be accorded every honour because of that fact, and that she will remain at Hollywood on a salary of dE2S weekly. For the girl who is to be “Miss New/ Zealand 1927" the door is open. A screen career is awaiting her. Never 9 such another chance will ever come her way. Therefore, Auckland girls, remember that we want your photographs. Time is on the wing. The contest will only remain open for a month now.
In conjunction with Fuilor-Hay-ward, J. C. Williamson, and Associated Theatres, THE 3UN and other journals are conducting a competition to search for the most suitable girl to represent New Zealand in a moving picture studio. Every centre in the Dominion is entering upon the same quest, and the rich reward will be keenly contested, for who can tell which town will have the honour of sending “Miss New Zealand 1927” to the top of the poll? ENTRY FORMS AVAILABLE Entry forms ar£ available at THE SUN Office on application. The duration of the “Miss New Zealand 1927” competition is limited to a few weeks. There is every indication that the competition ' will be one ol the most eagerly contested. THE SUN has already received numbers of photographs. We want them in as quickly as possible. Everyone sjiould enter into the spirit of this great adventure. Photographs of approved candidates
will be taken free of charge bv the Befl Studio, Karangaliape Road. Additional photos of contestant* appear In this issue. BOLES IN THE LEAD When the voting closed last night for the fifth week, the following were the leading six competitors:— No. 26 —Miss V. Boles. No. 53 —Miss Molly Overton. No. 13—Miss Billie Andreasson. No. 56—Miss J. Stuart. No. 17—Miss Queenk- Graham. No. 57—Miss O. Heaton. Miss Boles, of New Lynn, is therefore the choice of SUN readers, and is the fifth semi-finalist, so chosen. Her photograph will be found on Page 26.
