WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL
The chairman of the Waipa County Council submitted the following statement of receipts and expenditure at the annual meeting on Wednesday: Receipts for the year from all sources amounted to £45,888 18s 6d, made up of the following items: General rates, £22,335; special rates, £5,087; hospital rates, £4,482; Government subsidy, £2,509; and grants, £3,173; Highway Board subsidy, £4,596; loans, £600; thirds, £487; penalties for late payment of rates, £291; deposits, £139; heavy traffic fees, £543. The expenditure side show’s a total of £49,314 5s 6d made up as follow’s: Amount transferred to riding accounts for expenditure on roads, £19,888; loan money, £2,292; Highway Board money, £4.036; Government grants, £3,181; bridges, £656: board room, £452; sheds and land, £197; Austin grader (on account), £80; interest on loans, £6,321; repayments and sinking fund, £1,644; hospital levy, £4,682; new plant and renewals, £3,049; salaries and office expenses, £2,682.
