HIS MAJESTY’S

NELLIE BRAMLEY TO-MORROW Embarking on a series of 3 3 nights at His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow (Saturday night, the Nellie Bramley Company will offer for approval no fewer than five different plays. “Paddy the Next Best Thing” will be the opening production, and will run for six nights. This will be followed by two nights of “Fair and Warmer,” described as a play of “cocktails and mirth.” For the following three nights a play new to the Dominion will be staged. “A Little Bit of Fluff.” For one night only, Friday, May io, the popular “Peg o’ My Heart” will be revived, and for the final night of the season, Saturday, May 11, Miss Bramley will offer her interpretation of the evergreen “Camille.” In selecting “Paddy the Next Best Thing” for their opening production, it is doubtful whether the company could have hit on a more popular play. “Paddy” is intensely human, born a girl when her father wanted a boy. He makes the best of a bad job by nicknaming her “Paddy,” and always treating her as if she were really a boy. She enters into the spirit of it, and many and varied are the scrapes she finds herself in, but her sterling character and fine independence of spirit help her through all difficulties until she finally emerges triumphant. Miss Bramley, during her long association with the stage, has played many parts, but she considers the part of “Paddy” the finest characterisation she has ever presented. Supported by a very powerful cast, some old favourites, and several artists with English reputations new to the Dominion, the company should have ,a very successful season in Auckland. The box plans are advertised, and intending patrons should book immediately. The plan is fast filling up.
