WOMAN KILLED WHILE LISTENING-IN
ELECTROCUTED IN CHAIR SHOCK FROM READING-LAMP By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright LONDON, Wednesday. Death by electrocution was the fate of an elderly widow, Mrs. Rainford, of Wembley, while she was listeningin with a wireless set. According to deceased’s daughter she was apparently thrown violently backwards. The ear-phones attached to the crystal set she was using emitted sparks, as also did her spectacles. These she held in her left hand, which was considerably burned, and still grasping a small electric reading lamp. “I do not think wireless can be associated with Mrs. Rainford’s death,” said an official of the Broadcasting Corporation “It was certainly not due to current from the ether. Mrs. Rainford apparently received the shock from a defective electric light main through the lamp.”—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
