HOCKEY
MEETING OF COMMITTEE The North v. South Island hockey match will be played off about the middle of August, prior to the departure of the New Zealand representative team for Australia, according to advice received from the New Zealand Association at last evening’s nmeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Hockey Association. Mr. A. Playle presided. Mr. L. C. Kent was appointed sole selector of the Auckland representative team. The appointment of a junior selector was held over until the next meeting.
Permission was granted Varsity to postpone its matches on June 4 t * enable the club to compete in the interuniversity tournament at Christchurch. The following transfers were granted:—F. Anthony, from Areta to Mount Eden: R. D. Moore, from Somerville to Epiphany.
The Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association was granted permission to use the Remuera grounds for the New Zealand ladies’ tournament, the Auckland Association reserving the right to the gate money on Saturday.
It was decided to inform the New Zealand Association that the most'suitable commencing date for the New Zealand {ournament would be Monday, July 25.
