PORT AUCKLAND BAND

FORTHCOMING CARNIVAL Arrangements for the forthcoming carnival to assist the funds of the Port Auckland Band were advanced a further stage at a meeting of the band held last evening. Mr. W. Nichols, bandmaster, presided over a good attendance of members and friends. It was decided to hire the Town Hall concert chamber in the evenings of July 7, 8 and 9 for the purpose of holding a bazaar, with the usual stalls and side-shows. Assistance has been promised by the St. John Ambulance Brigade * and various suburban district bands. It is proposed to hold a monster torchlight procession in Queen Street on Thursday evening by way of advertising the carnival. On the Sunday afternoon a massed I bands display is to be held in the Auckland Domain, at which popular selections will be played. It is intended to conclude the carnival with a concert on the Sunday evening in one of the city theatres.
