DEATH OF OLD IDENTITY

MR. HERBERT THOMPSON The Northern Club flew its flag halfmast yesterday out of respect to a member, Mr. Herbert Thompson, who died suddenly at the age of 81 years. Mr. Thompson had been identified with the wholesale trade in Auckland since the far-distant days when Messrs. \V. and A. McArthur had their warehouse in Queen Street on part of the site now occupied by Smith and Caughey. Prior to that he had been in the soft goods trade in Australia. In later years he has been the head of the firm of Thompson, Bush and Co.. Ltd.
