ECONOMICS AND WORLD PEACE UNANIMITY AT LAST By Cable. — Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11.40 a.m. GENEVA, Monday. An agreement has been reached regarding the composition of the organisation to carry on the Economic Conference’s work, M. Jouhaux consenting to compromise over Labour’s representation. Thereupon Mr. A. Pugh supported his resolution recognising that the maintenance of world peace depends largely upon the principles and economic policies which the conference unanimpusly adopted.
He said that they formed the basis of the memoranda presented on behalf of the British Labour oragnisations. emphasising that unless the nations’ economic activities and rivalries can be controlled and directed in common interests, stable peace would be impossible. The Soviet delegates intimated that they would support the resolution.—A. and N.Z.
