PAPATOETOE CROQUET CLUB

CARD AFTERNOON The lady members of the Papatoetoe Croquet Club held a very successful card afternoon in the club’s pavilion on Saturday, when a large number of enthusiasts turned up to enjoy the play. Progressive five hundred was played and after some very close contests Mrs. Abbott won the ladies’ section and Mr. Lucena won the men’s section. During the competition a cessation of play was called when afternoon tea was served by the lady members of the club. The session will be continued on Saturday afternoon, June 18, commencing at 2 p.m. in the pavilion when prizes will again be given for the ladies’ and men’s sections. A good draining-pan for wash-day can be made by cutting out one side of a kerosene-tin and punching holes in the opposite side. Fix handles on both ends. If wiped dry after use it will not rust.
