MUNICIPAL BAND

SUNDAY CONCERT There is nothing like a good band to stir one with martial music, and the Municipal Band, under the baton of Mr. Christopher Smith, did justice to "The London Scottish," a march triumphant, at the Sunday evening’s concert in the Town Hall. The overture, “Mignon” (Thomas), was delightfully played. Mr. Fred Bowes contributed a cornet solo, “Souvenir de Bellini," and in conjunction with Mr. J. Purchase, euphonium, Balfe’s “fexcelsior" A selection from Verdi’s “II Trovatore,” the tone poem, “Sanctuary of the Heart," and the ever-popular “Reminiscences of England," were also played by the band.
