SHIPBUILDERS’ AWARD

In the ship, yacht and boat-builders’ award filed on May 20, the Arbitration Court settles the disputed questions cf wages and “country'” work. The minimum rates for journeymen shipwrights is fixed at 2s 4i an hour, and for boatbuilders 2s 3d an hour. A boat is defined as any vessel under 15 tons Customs measurement built under cover.

For country work the employer shall pay 5s a day extra for six days in the week, or provide board and lodgings. Travelling time shall be paid at ordinary rates and expenses shall be allowed going to and returning from the job.
