Motor-Cyclist Fined
INTOXICATION CHARGE LICENCE CANCELLED Frank Hanlon rode to Otahuhu on Saturday on his motor-bike to a football match. If he had only indulged in cheers during the afternoon instead of the cup that has the same effect all would have been well. On his way home along Panmure Road with Ernest Fraser, also aboard the machine he had an accident which esulted in his appearance in the Police Court this morning. Fraser was also there, but only as an ordinary “drunk.” The payment of 5s made him a free man. Chief-Detective Cummings, who was at the watch-house when Hanlon was brought in by Constable Thompson, told the court that Hanlon was unlit to control any vehicle.
They had waited beside the damaged machine to assure the constable, who arrived half-an-hour later, that nobodv was hurt, Hanlon said. He had a bottle of beer in his pocket, but that was to take home.
Hanlon’s main concern during the next fortnight will be raising £lO to pay the fine that Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. imposed. He will not ride his motorcycle again for twelve months, the magistrate ruled.
