THE NELSON’S GUNS

The battleship Nelson, the biggest fighting ship afloat, will arrive at Portsmouth for trials. The naval correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says that, in addition to 16-inch guns, the Nelson carries astern six pairs of 6inch guns enclosed in steel turrets, three pairs firing on either broadside. The warship has only one funnel, placed astern of a huge armoured tower containing the fire control appliances, and the navigation control stations. Her heavy guns are huddled in an enormous fo’c’sle. There is no stern fire from the heavy guns. The final cost of the vessel will be about £7,000,000.
