TOO SWEET
New-Found Freedom FILMING “MISS N.Z.” CANDIDATES AT CINTRA THE filming of the “Miss New x Zealand 1927” entrants, at Cintra, the former Auckland home of Sir Arthur Myers, this afternoon, provided unexpected liberty for one of the stars. This little novice actress was not ambitious: there was no desire on her part to seek fame in Hollywood. She was a golden-plumaged canary. Her part was a small and inconspicuous one. Nevertheless, she was determined that she would not be overlooked. The canary waited her opportunity, and before she was “shot” in a “scene,” with the girls she made good her escape through the bars of her netv cage. Every effort was made to entice the canary back to her perch. The newfound freedom, however, was too sweet. The native bush surrounding Cintra was preferable any day to a cage and there she stayed. About 20 girls faced the camera this afternoon under the direction of Mr. Shepherd of the Majestic Theatre. t Cosmetics were the order of the day. Make-ups were applied under the direction of Mrs. Hayward. The film will in due course be serened at the Majestic.
