THE END OF ARDATH
DESTROYED AFTER FALL {Special to THE SUN.) WANGANUI, To-day. The second fatality of the Wanganui meeting occurred to-day when the Hallowmas-Ruu Ran gelding Ardath leu in the Hay Hurdles and broke a ‘eg, which necessitated destroying the chestnut jumper. Ardath was owned by the popular Wanganui sportsman Mr. S. Hammond, who also races the ’chaser Te . laire and who has won several jumping events. The son of that good >rc>od mare Rau Rau had won three antl >»ad occupied second and third places out of seven starts this season, and it looked as if more money would come liis, way. His death removes a promisin': jumper from the tanks. The first mishap of the meeting came when Peter Rosa, the well-known Auckland jumper, who has proved a. successful stake earner lor his owner, Mr. P. Baine, came to the end of his racing career on Thursday here, when ne met with an accident in the Wanganui Steeplechase, injuring a shoulder, which subsequently led to his be,n £ destroyed.
