Chinese Team Beaten. —In an Association foiball match yesterday Sydney Metropolitan defeated China by' 2 goals to 0. Scarlet Fever in Wellington. —The Medical Officer of Health states that scarlet fever is at present prevalent in Wellington, says a Press Associtaion message from that centre. Mr. Cosites to Visit Huntly.—The Right Hoi. the Prime Minister is expected in Huntly on Monday next on official business in connection with his department. Howick to Raise Loan. —The Howick Town Board has decided to raise a loan of £5,000 to build a new office and to carry out general improvements in the district. At present the board and the public library share the same premises. Governor to Visit Huntly.—His Excellency the Governor-General will shortly visit Huntly to officiate at the ceremony of unveiling the Huntly War Memorial. Whilst there he will inspect the Rotowaro Mine and address the pupils of the school. Abandcned Farms. —A list of 22 abandoned farms in the district was dispatched by the Opotiki branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to the Bay cf Plenty Development League, which is taking the matter of abandoned farms up with the Government. Weekly Half - holiday. —For the second time in its history' Opotiki will make the change to Saturday as the Weekly half-holiday'. Saturday was carried ty a large majority at the recent poll. The change will be made °n May >l. East Coast Railway.—The Opotiki branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union has resolved to agitate for the early completion of the TaneatuaOpotiki section of the East Coast Main runk Railway, which the union considers to be of vital necessity to the district.
