A DOCTOR’S FEES

DISPUTED PAYMENT DEATH OF PATIENT (.From Our Oxen Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Tuesday. Elizabeth Stanaway, of Te Aroha, widow, was defendant in a claim for £52 10s to-day by Archibald Joseph, a medical practitioner. Counsel for palintiff stated Dr Joseph was summoned to attend the defendant’s daughter, diagnosing the case as mild rheumatism. The child became worse and he visited her 137 times, sometimes urgently at night. Other doctors confirmed his diagnosis and mode o. treatment.

The girl eventually died in hispital Counsel could not understand on what grounds the action was defended, as the defendant had spoken favourably to another doctor of Dr. Joseph’s work.

Counsel for defendant intimated that he would probably consent to judgment for the full amount. The case was then adjourned.
