MANUKAU COUNTY
HOSPITAL, BOARD’S LEVY The Manukau County Council met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. F. M. Waters, presiding. A letter was received from the Auckland Hospital Board stating that the levy against the county for the current financial year was £4,584. an increase of £IBO on the previous year's figure. Several members objected to the increase. The chairman remarked that, in proportion to the population of the county, they were paying far more than the Auckland City Council.
A section of the building by-laws was amended, and will read as follows:
“No shop shall be erected on any site having less than 12ft. frontage (amended from 15ft.) to a public street or mad. and no combined shop and dwelling, whether the living portion of such building be old or new. shall be erected upon a site having less than 20ft. frontage to a piiblic street or road, or so as to deprive any existing dwelling of its required area and air space necessitated under the Manukau County Council by-laws.”
