Dominion Boxers Across the Tasman

MCKNIGHT JOINS PURDY

Word comes from Mr. Pat Connors. Charlie Purdy’s trainer, now in Australia, to Mr. G. P. Aldridge, secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council, that he has taken into his camp Nelson McKnight, the northern boy, who was apparently unlucky in having a ‘‘no fight” decision in his bout with Jim Pearse at Newcastle recently. Mr. Connors anticipates making good use of the Hamilton fighter, whom he considers will do well across the Tasman. A characteristic sentence concludes the letter. “Tell Mick Stewart,” the writer says, “that I still think him the best referee in Australasia. A few kidney and rabbit punches are allowed by the Stadium ring arbitrator.”
