AUCKLAND POWER BOARD
TO MEET PRIME MINISTER THE DELAY AT ARAPUNI A meeting of the Auckland Electricpower Board was held yesterday, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, presiding over a full attendance of members. It was decided to donate the sum of £lO 10s toward the funds of the Workers' Educational Association. A deputation from the board will interview the Prime Minister on his return from the North to discuss with him the delay at Arapuni and the provision of power supply in the meantime.
The chairman said a conference of all authorities concerned would be held at Hamilton shortly in connection with the supply of power from Horahora.
An application from the Auckland Play Association to be supplied with power at the domestic rate was discussed at some length. The board decided to obtain a report from the geenral manager regarding the probable difference in the board's revenue if all philanthropic institutions were allowed rating on such terms.
In his report the general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, recommended that Richardson Road. Mount Roskill, should be reticulated. The extension would uot be self-supporting immediately, but had prospects of being so in the near future. The total cost would be in the vicinity of £1,500, and the maximum revenue at about £l2O from the 16 applications for supply. The report was adopted.
