SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS

AT HOME An “At Home” was held by the Society of Musicians in the Lyceum Club last evening, when through the delay in the arrival of the Tofua, the guest of honour, Mr. Efrem Zimbalist, was unfortunately unable to be present.

On behalf of the society, Mr. Barry Coney, the president, expressed the

regret felt at the absence of Mr. Zimbalist, whom it had been hoped the society might welcome to the city. Mr. Coney introduced Mr. Haskovitch, Mr. Zimbalist’s concert director, who gave a short interesting address, which was followed by a delightful programme.

“The Story of the Desert,” and “The Chinese Dinner,” were two enjoyable recitations given by Madame St. James and a pleasing group of Hebridean songs w'ere sung by Miss A. Hansard. Wagner’s “Fire Music” was exquisitely played by Miss Judson, and was followed by a charming minuet danced in attractive court costumes by Madame Baird and Mr. D'Este. A classical dance solo by Miss Pelita concluded the concert.

Raw potato scraped and applied to a burn will afford great relief ' immediately, and the burn will heal quickly. When the potato dries up and turns brown after an hour or so, a fresh lot should be applied. A bandage should be kept on it, of course.
