THE TIVOLI
“THE ACE OF CADS” The choice of Adolphe Menjou for the j star role in “The Ace of Cads,” now being shown at the Tivoli Theatre, was a | happy one, as it enables him to portray the kind of part in which he is most popular—a sophisticated London society man who “wears his sins as non chalantly as a monocle.” Michael Arlen. the brilliant young author, who wrote the short story from which Paramount has adapted “The Ace of Cads,” is reported to have said that nobody he knew in the entire screen world was better fitted for the role of Maturin, the polished young officer, than Menjou. The theme is a most appealing one, and moves swiftly’ to a dramatic climax. Included on the current programme is a second featured film, “Men of the Night,” starring Herbert Rawlinson, Gareth Hughes, and Wanda Hawley. The story’ is a fast moving drama of crime, interwoven with a charming romance, and describes the staunch loyalty of a lovable old lady’ who, in face of prison and disgrace redeems her young adopted son from a career of crim<*. Good supporting I films complete the piogramme.
