AUCKLAND SLIGHTED AGAIN!
The name of Zane Grey has been approved by the Racing Conference for a two-year-old owned in the Auckland district, and the youngster has started a few times under this name. But the New Zealand Trotting Association has its own ideas on the rights and wrongs of nomenclature. Application was recently made for the registration of a trotter Zane Grey, but the Trotting Association at once rose to great heights in its indignation. i “Oh, we can’t have that name!” objected a member. “It might offend Zane Grey, and we mustn’t do that. He is a good advertiser of New Zealand.” The decision to cast out the name was unanimous. So what is good enough for Ellerslie and Riccarton is outside the pale at Alexandra Park and Addington.
