TO FINANCE MIGRANTS
WELLINGTON COMPANY FORMED FARMS IN THE NORTH By dividing 10,000 acres at Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, a Wellington company hopes to provide frni~ and market farms for 300 overseas families. Blocks not exceeding 20 acres for the cultivation of citi'us fruits, grape fruit and early market crops, including potatoes, are to be allotted to th immigrants. The North Auckland Land Development Corporation is the company responsible for trie scheme, which was explained by Mr. G. E. Alderton, of the firm of T. Mandeno Jackson. Wellington financiers are satisfied with the tests and have put,their money into the project. A settler may have his land planted and prepared for him by furnishing the capital—about £SOO for 10 acres—the payments being spread over four years. At the head of the Kerikeri River a model garden town is to be laid out It is stated that five farmers have already proved the financial possibilities of the plan.
