OFF THE CHAIN
DOG ATTACKS YOUNG GIRL OWNER IN COURT “It's only been off the chain twice m six months.” protested William Tasman Waddell in the Police Court jyesterday, when he was charged with being the owner of a dangerous dog. “Well, it’s been off twice too often,” was the magistrate’s quick retort. Someone had reported that a man was wandering around peeping into houses, Waddell said, and he had let the dog off the chain to guard the house. A girl of 14 called that evening, and the dog had caught hold of her hand, but did not bite her. “He didn't even break the skin,” its owner said. Mr. F. K. Hunt adjourned the case for three months. “If there are no further complaints, you’ll hear no more about it.” he Waddell.
