COULD NOT REMEMBER
MAN WHO STOLE NETS COST HIM £3/11/A mist must have obscured Samuel Baggstrom’s memory yesterday, according to what he said this morning, when he appeared in the Police Court charged with stealing a quantity of nets worth 35s from a van owned by John Edmond Turner. “I plead guilty, but I don’t know anything about it,” he said. “I’m very sorry, and I’ll make good the damage I’ve done.” Turner’s small son was brought up to the bench by Constable du Temple, and told the court, without the least sign of nervousness, that he had seen Baggstrom take the nets out of the van and walk off with them over his shoulder.
He had afterwards burnt the nets Senior-Sergeant explained.
