Down and Out, But Mot Friendless

SHELTER FOR HOMELESS REV. J. CALDER’S ENTERPRISE rpo provide shelter for the homeless unemployed men in Auckland, the Rev. Jasper Calder, of the City Mission, is opening a “doss-house,” which will save men from the hardship of sleeping out. The missioner, who has been prompted to make his latest humane move by Mr. F. K. Hunt’s observation, from the Bench, that there were too many men sleeping out in Auckland, appeals to the citizens to support him by sending donations in cash and blankets. The shelter to be opened is in Lower Federal Street, and has been acquired through the courtesy of the Auckland Drug Co. Mr. Fred Potter will act as honorary superintendent.
