A DAY OUT
TITIRANGI LADIES’ GOLF NEW HANDICAPPING SYSTEM The most sensational scoring recorded among Auckland ladies occurred at Titirangi yesterday afternoon, when no fewer than three players in a bogey handicap finished six up. It was however large due to a change in the handicap allowance system of the Ladies’ Golf Union by which the competition was played on stroke handicaps instead of the usual bogey. But that was not wholly responsible for the scoring, as the competitors seemed to react to the perfect conditions, and nine of them reduced their handicaps. It was a very bright day among the Titirangi ladies. Mrs. Deighton reduced from 5 to 4, and is now the lowest handicapped player in the ladies’ club, two strokes below Mrs. Dufaur, the club champion. The best cards returned were: Seniors.—Mrs. G. L. Taylor, 6 up; Miss K. Horton, 6 up; Mrs. Dufaur, 4 up; Mrs. Reid, 3 up. Juniors: Miss M. Fouhy, G up; Miss G. Cooks, 5 up; Miss Goldwater, 4 up; Miss Carnachan, 4 up; Mrs. Endean, 4 up; Miss K. Manning, 3 up. A C grade match will be held next Tuesday, May 17. Entries close to-day.
