THE STRAND
SEVEN SINNERS AND POLICE CONTROL A programme that will be popular with everybody has been arranged for the Strand, commencing to-morrow. During the day time a special programme has been arranged for the children—Rin-Tin-Tin’s latest picture, “Hero of the Big Snows.” At night there are two big mystery films. One is entitled, “Seven Sinners,” featuring Marie Prevost and Clive Brook, which provides comedy in equal measure with thrills, and the other is “The Police Patrol,” a story woven round a member of the New York police force, featuring James Kirkwood and Edna Murphy. “Seven Sinners’* is a comedy of thrills and mystery, but mostly of laughs. Marie Prevost, the most charming comedienne of the screen, heads the cast, as Molly Brian, the keen-witted, light-fingered, lighthearted little safe breaker, and she has associated with her Clive Brook, the suave handsome English star, as a modern and merry Jimmy Valentine; John Patrick, as a new sort of Raffles; Heinie Conklin, whom we regard as one of the funniest of all comedians, as a thug of a crook who scorns finesse, and Claude Gillingwater and Mathilde Brundage, as a pair of sanctimonious confidence people. They'll steal all the laughs you have about you. The Strand Symphony Orchestra will play delightful and appropriate music throughout the whole programme. In addition to the big pictures there will be an Aesop Fable and Strand Magazine.
