GARAGE AND TRUCK DESTROYED BY FIRE

TAKAPUNA MAN’S LOSS A garage and a brand-new Chevrolet motor-truck were destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. The garage was attached to the residence of Mr. J. P. Barclay, of Napier Road, Takapuna, who owned the motor-truck. When the fire brigade arrived the flames, fanned by a strong wind, had got a good hold of the structure, and the efforts of the firemen to subdue the outbreak proved futile. But they managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the house and also extinguished an outbreak in a washhouse which was adjacent to the garage. It is not certain how the fire originated. It was first discovered by the people living next door. The garage was not insured and the insurance on the motor-truck is not known. •
