PARISHIONERS’ MEETINGS ST. MATTHEW’S ? The Poor Fund of St. Matthew’s Church has provided SSO meals and 200 beds for unemployed, as well as 160 parcels of groceries, and 1,000 garments, blankets and bedding for needy families of the city, it was stated at the annual meeting of parishioners last night. In the past month alone 160 people were provided with meals and beds. A satisfactory state of the finances was reported by the veatry. Receipts amounted to £2,658; endowment fund, £1,456; new organ fund, £258; and all other funds showed credit balances. Special mention of th§ generous gift of £ 350 made by the late Mr. A. D. Lubecki was made by Canon C H. Grant Cowen, who presided. A bazaar, organised by the ladies of the parish, had brought in £282, he said. The Easter Day services were attended by 475 communicants, and a good congregation was recorded throughout the year. The vicar made special mention of the visit of the Bishop of London to Auckland last March, and the benefits derived from the visit of so noted a churchman. Dr. Ingram ordained him 22 years ago, he said. A special Empire service, to which members of all local bodies will be invited, will be held on June 5. The following church officers wore elected:—Vestry. W. Clark, E. Sitton, B. E. Fountain, H. Goode, H. P. Josey, C. Mountain, H. O. Searle, R. W. White, T. A. Woodhouse. and G. G. Zohrab; vicar’s warden, Mr. E. O. Fricker; people’s warden, Mr. A. C. Hallett; auditors, Messrs. W. Tailby and H. Atkin. HOLY TRINITY, OTAHUHU The increasingly large attendances at services at Holy Trinity, Otahuhu, was commented on by the Rev. C. B. W. Seton at the annual meeting of parishioners. An increase of £2OO in receipts was shown in the balance-sheet, and in addition £3,100 had been added to the building fund. Membership of the Sunday School and Bible classes stood at 300. social club 175, and Mothers’ Union 70. The following are the officers for the ensuing year:—Messrs. W. T. Baker, M. J. Banratt, H. Bernard, F. B. Davis, H. J. Hall. J. Ewing, V. Morrin, C. C. Pitkeatly. E. Searchfield and C. B. Whitmore. Mr. J. Kitto was appointed vicar’s warden, and Mr. G. McDell was elected people's warden. ALL SAINT’S, BIRKENHEAD A small credit balance is shown in the finances of All Saint’s Church at Birkenhead, the Rev. H. H. Bedford said at the annual meeting last night, and £IOO had been paid off the parish debt. The following vestry was elected: Mesdames Chambers, Gilfillan and J. Steel, and Messrs. L. Bell, W. Havill, N. Heath. W. Messenger and Powell. Mr. A. R. Bicknell was appointed vicar’s warden, and Mr. J. Hall was elected people’s warden. MISSIONARY SOCIETY From a financial standpoint the past year has been a successful one for the Auckland Auxiliary of the London Church Missionary Society, it was said last night at the annual meeting, held

in the Beresford Street Congregational Church. An address on the work of the various Christian missions in China was given by the W. Mawson, formerly a Presbyterian missionary in China. The following officers were elected: President, Rev. I. S. Stebbins; vicepresident, Mr. J. Jarvis; secretary, Rev. Mark Finch; treasurer, Mr. P. C. Totman; auditor, Mr. R. K. Fisher: secretary of the Watchers’ Prayer Union, Mr. A. G. Brown.
