CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce was held on Monday, Mr. B. P. Andrews, president, in the chair. The annual report showed that the past year, on the whole, had been a satisfactory one. The balance sheet stated that the membership was 65 and the funds showed a credit balance of £ls 10 6d. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. R. Rutter; vicepresidents, Messrs. G. T. Wright and W. T. Teasey; secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. C. Robbins (re-elected); executive, Messrs. F. W. Christian, Q. Mann, J. Murdoch, W. S. Harris, E. A. Wistle, A. D. Merrilees, and B. P. Andrews. It was decided to urge the Government to proceed with the PaeroaPukemo railway and to make the Tauranga post office a ledger office. An application for a high school is to be renewed. Two more slot telephone boxes will be asked for. The Hon. Minister for Agriculture is to be urged to make his promised visit to the district before the opening of Parliament. After the meeting the members and a number of visitors adjourned to the Denver tearooms, where a very pleasant and convivial time was spent.
