AUCKLAND INSTITUTE

DR. BUCK TO LECTURE The winter session of the Auckland Institute will begin this evening with a lecture on “Native Life in the Cook Islands,” to be given by Dr. P. H. Buck at the University College Hall, Princes Street. The lecturer will tell of the voyages and traditions of these natives who are related to the Maoris, and will describe with the aid of lantern slides their clothing, canoes, games and dramatic displays. The study of the traditions, customs and culture of the Cook Islanders in relation to the Maoris is of great importance, and it is to promote this and allied reesarch throughout the Pacific that Dr. Buck will shortly be \ leaving New Zealand.
