ELLERSLIE NOTES NORTHERN CANDIDATES ON THE TRACK Rahepoto is to make his debut over the hurdles at the Auckland winter meeting. This morning at- Ellerslie he jumped four of the battens with E. Stanway in the saddle, and though he went carefully he a fair display. Jumping Candidates The Great Northern candidates Sir Roseberry and Karamu were exercised at Ellerslie this morning, but were not after time. Both are in good condition, but it is understood that Sir Roseberry’s owner is not at all pleased with the weights allotted the jumper. Karamu is a ball of muscle and has never looked better. Light-weight's Engagements The light-weight jockey, W. H. Jones, will be riding Captain Gazely, Matinee and Tangerim at the Egmont meeting. Not This Month
The trip to Sydney that was to be undertaken by trainer J. Williamson with Archibald and others is likely to be postponed until the spring. According to information to hand Archibald will be a starter in the Great Northern Hurdles, and will be ridden by S. Henderson. The same horseman will pilot Beau Cavalier in the Great Northern Steeples, and Town Guard and Lomint in their respective engagements.
OFF TO HAWERA
SMALL AUCKLAND CONTINGENT Zircon, Subdivision, Llewellyn and Baby Bun left by the Rarawa this afternoon to fulfil their engagements at the Egmont meeting at Hawera on Thursday and Saturday. It is more than probable that these four horses will go on from Hawera to Wanganui next week, where they claim further engagements.
