FIRE AT HASTINGS

SEED-STORE DAMAGED VALUABLE STOCKS RUINED Press Association HASTINGS, To-day. There was an outbreak of fire in the premises of Langley and Co., produce merchants, Karamu Road, on Sunday morning at 2.15. Flames were sweeping through to the rear of a corrugated iron shed at the back of the shop, which was built of brick, when the brigade arrived, but were quickly extinguished. A large stock of valuable seeds, onions, potatoes, chaff, etc., valued at about £ 1,500, was ruined by fire, smoke or water.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The insurance on the building (owned by the firm) was £S00; stock, £750; plant, £150; all with the Phoenix office.
