PLUNKET SOCIETY
THAMES BRANCH EXTENDING THE WORK (From Our Own Correspondent.) THAMES, To-day. At the monthly meeting of the Plunket Society it was reported that a sub-branch had been opened at Waitakaruru, where a room had been kindly lent by a resident. It was decided that it was very necessary to obtain a motor-car for the nurse, who has to visit the surrounding district as far away as Kerepeehi, an organisation was formed tc collect funds tor th*-* same. As a result of the visit of a “merry-go-round” to the Thames, which offered 20 per cent, of its takings, £IOO was received. It was resolved to wait upon Mr. W. T. Rhodes, M.P., and urge him to use his influence to have the society land made free of rates. The rates on the society’s land in Pollen Street this year were paid by Mr. E. N. Miller, who received a hearty vote of thanks.
