FANS FOR HATS

NEW MODES Fans, which look as if they might be carried to the ballroom by the dance girl, are among the amusing trimmings for the new hats. Some of these fans are made from ribbon, some from feathers, and others from flowers. A millinery model, which promises to have a great success during the next l'ew weeks, is a small, close-fitting, brimless hat made entirely from ribbon. The base of the hat is a sort of skull cap. the trimming consisting of a pair of fans made from pleated ribbon, one being placed at either side of the hat. All black hats of this type are extremely attractive, but many of these ribbon fan hats are in colours. Very suggestive of autumn was a little hat of which the basic cap was deep golden brown ribbon, the two fans being made of pleated gros grain ribbon, shading from palest lemon up to the deep beech tones of the crown. One of the little flower toques which are returning to favour this year was made with fan trimming, but in this case the fan was a single affair, placed slantwise at the left side of the back.
