WILL WORK THIS WEEK!
NORWEGIAN TO CHOP LOGS REMANDED FOR SENTENCE Owind Adolf Nilson Is a fastidious youth. You’ve only to look at him to see that. He dresses well, and is very particular about what he does. So much so in fact that during the three months that he has been living at Devonport he has only done a fortnight s work. That was in a biscuit factory, and he left because he thought it was too hot. For a month or more he has paid nothing to the widow with whom he has been boarding. This morning his name was called out in the Police Court, and he walked into the dock, acknowledged the Magistrate’s presence with a slight bow, and listened while the charge of being an idle and disorderly person was read out to him.
“He’s too lazy to work,” said SeniorSergeant Edwards.
“No, no work to get,” protested Nilson.
He said that he was not' going to look for worg,” the sergeant continued, “as he’s waiting for a boat to take him home.”
Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remanded the young Norwegian, who is 20, fairhaired, blue-eyed, and boyish looking, for a week in the care of the Salvation Army, for sentence.
Now then, Captain Davies, give him plenty of hard work. Work him early and late. Let him chop up some of those logs,” the Magistrate recommended. And then to Nilson, “Now you work. You’ll work this week! Remanded till May 14 for sentence.”
