THEFT OF MONEY AND DOCUMENTS

HUSBAND IN DOCK ANSWERS WIFE’S CHARGES TALK OF DIVORCE Theft of money and documents from his wife was alleged against Milton Barnard Keane (40), Mr. Dickson, at the Supreme Court, before His Honour Mr. Justice Herdman to-day. Nellie Blanch Keane, the wife, told the court that on February 4 a box containing £6O in notes and documents was broken open and £34 was stolen. All the papers had been turned o/er and left in disorder. Her daughter had fainted when the husband had broken into the box. Witness had informed the police. Replying to Mr. Dickson, witness admitted that divorce proceedings had been instituted both by herself and by her husband. She had lived in Sydney under the name of Mrs. Munro, but this had been done with the consent of her husband as it had been suggested that it would help her to get her freedom. Mr. Dickson: Have you not been receiving endearing letters from men who say they will marry you?—No. After dropping a photograph from her hand-bag and having it returned by opposing counsel, Mrs. Keane handed it to the foreman of the jury, saying, “Perhaps the jury would like to see this. It is the photograph of my husband with another woman!" His Honour: The jury has cot nothing to do with your domestic troubles! fitness was given her photograph. (Proceeding.)
