PRINCE OF WALES ATTACKED

“DRAGGING ENGLAND IN DIRT” WOMAN’S WILD OUTBURST By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright.

Reed. 8 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The report, since denied, that the Prince of Wales intended seeing a bull-fight in Seville provoked a storm

at the conference of Animal Welfare Societies. Mr s. Dudl e y Ward, an antiv iv isectio nist, shouted: “This man whom we call the ‘Ambassador of j. the Empire’ is drag-

ging the name of England in the dirt. These fights are sometimes too horrible even for King Alfonso.” This started an uproar and there

were cries that the report was untrue. A voice: He’s a most humane man. “He is not a humane man,” retorted Mrs. Ward. “Untrue,” chorused the delegates. When the chairman, Mr. John Galsworthy, the novelist, suggested that the subject was outside the scope of the conference a clergyman shouted: We’ve got to be bold, sir. Somebody suggested writing to the Prince of Wales to verify the report. The delegates departed for lunch still hotly debating.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. It was announced last week that neither the Prince of Wales nor Prince George would attend a bull-fight, and this decision was applauded by the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
