A PARSON’S PROTEST

QUESTION OF SACRAMENT FIRST CHURCH OF OTAGO Press Association DUNEDIN. Tuesday. A protest was entered at a meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery to-day by the Rev. W. Trotter, Mornington, against the celebration of the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at First Church on Good Friday. Mr. Trotter wrote dissociating himself from the celebration, and requested that his protest should be placed on the agenda. The Rev. Dr. E. N. Merrington. minister of First Church, opposed the reception of the letter, and urged that no minute of the reception of a letter protesting against the sacrament carried out in accordance with the Reformed Church and the whole Church of Christ should appear on the books. The Presbytery then went into committee. After debating the question for an hour and a-half, it was reported that the Presbytery had decided not to endorse the protest.
