AUCKLAND INSTITUTE
ANTHROPOLOGY SECTION The annual meeting of the anthropological section of the Auckland •-Institute was held last evening, Air. Gilbert Archey presiding. A large increase in membership was announced in the annual report, and a small credit balance was disclosed. The most important addition to the section’s exhibits during the year was the carved lintel discovered in the Kaitaia swamps. “Field days” on the scene of former Maori pas will be among the activities arranged by the section for the next 12 months. The chairman remarked that one result of these outings might possibly be to dispel some “fabulous tales.” Following are the incoming officers: Chairman, Mr. W. Page Rowe; secretary and treasurer, Mr. V. F. Fisher; committee. Miss O. Lloyd, Messrs. G. Archey, R. A. Falla, George Graham, and T- Simson; auditor, Mr. I. B. Esam.
