POWERS’ DISCUSSIONS MODIFICATIONS CONSIDERED By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 12.50 p.m. RUGBY, Monday. Replying in the House of Commons the Foreign Secretary, Sir Austen Chamberlain, stated that as a result of the exchange of views between the Powers concerned, regarding the modification of the Tangier Statute, it was arranged that preliminary conversations should take place between the French and Spanish Governments to be followed, in the event of a basis of agreement being reached, by discussions in which the British and Italian Governments would join. The Franco-Spanish conversations are still proceeding.—A. and N.Z.
