MOANATAIARI.—During the week the following work has been carried out: Seaward Drive: Advanced sft., total 53ft A break is showing in the face, but anticipate no difficulty in picking up th« reef on the seaward side. Gold was seeß in the reef up to the break. Hillward Drive: Advanced 4ft., total 47ft. Tht reef is wider than the drive, and coloun of gold have been seen. No work wa? done in the winze as we cross-cutted thi'ough the reef in the level and proved the reef to be about 10ft. in width at the point we worked, which we think if the true footwall. The hanging wall wt cannot yet determine. Next week we intend to stop all the faces and confine all work to the winze with three shift* to see if the run of ore is going down as apparently the ore body is underfoot. MAORILAND. —The mine manager -e- j ports for the week-encrrng April 30: The men have been engaged during the week in side-stepping the lode. Good progress has been made under the circumstance#, as the ground is exceptionally hard. I hope to h vve the face squared up by the end of the coming week, and will then take a sample right across the face.
