HIS MAJESTY’S
“CROOKS, LTD.” “Something New” has been the cry of the theatre-going public since the times when the Roman emperors secured immense popularity by substituting Christians for criminals as lions’ feed. The university students claim to have answered the universal demand with their latest production, “Crooks Ltd.” It is new in the sense that it is recently finished—two months ago, to be precise. It is new in the sense that it is fresh, that its first production Avill be in Auckland on May 7. It is new in the sense that it is original, plot and dialogue—yes, and music too—a remarkable achievement for an author who is not yet twentytwo. Finally, it is new because it is a form of play not previously seen Auckland, namely, the musical farce. It is not comic opera, nor musical comedy, nor musical burlesque, nor musical extravaganza, but pure farce set to captivating melody.
