ALL SAINTS’, HOWICK
ANNUAL CHURCH MEETING The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saint’s Church, Howick, was held last Thursday evening. Canon H. Mason presided over a large attendance. The balance-sheet showed total receipts for the year of £593, out of which there were heavy disbursements for renovating the church and vicarage and installing electric light. After a long discussion concerning finance it was decided to introduce the duplex system and do away with all church collections. The other church with this scheme is St. John the Baptist’s, Northcote. The report stated there had been an increase of the Sunday School scholars, and services had been started at Buckland’s Beach. It was decided to move the present Sunday School nearer the church and also to enlarge it. The commemmoration of the Stth anniversary of the present church building, which falls on November I, was considered. Messrs. Green and Tovey were appointed as churchwardens, and the following were elected to the vestry: Messrs. Bagnall, Beckett, Bates, Germing, Gossett, Gandy, Litten, Leigh and Mills. Mr. Bates was appointed secretary and treasurer.
