WHANGAREI BRANCH FOURTH ANNUAL MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Friday. The fourth annual meeting of the Whangarei branch of the Plunket Society was held on Thursday. Mr. J. E. Holmes presided over an attendance of some 30 members. The bal-ance-sheet showed a credit balance of £9B on the year’s workings. The president, Mrs. M. E. Holmes, reported that the new building in Central Park would be ready for occupation very shortly, putting an end to the lack of working space which had hampered the society’s efforts for so long. The position of the society had been greatly strengthened by the financial help of the Hospital Board. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. W. Jones, M.P. (re-elected); president, Mrs. Murdoch; secretary, Mrs. Donaldson (reelected); treasurer, Miss Bethell; auditor. Mr. T. H. Steadman (re- elected) ; executive committee, Mesdames Foote, Holmes, W. Heather, Steadman, Briggs, Jones, Staples, Haw'kins and Wilson; general committee, Mesdames Gurr, Thorne, Curtis, Johnson, McInnes, Black, Pickmere, Gemmell, Boult, Crawford, W. H. Main, Morrish and Miss Cookson.
