GRAFTON BRIDGE

CLOSED NEXT WEEK Provided weather conditions are favourable, Grafton Bridge will be closed for a week to vehicular traffic as from Monday. Pedestrians, however, will still be able to use the footpath. The closing is to enable the contractors to remove the present surface, and give the bridge carriage-way an entirely new surface. It is hoped to complete the work in seven days so as not to cause more congestion than can be avoided in Symonda Street.

The contract for the work has been let to the Neuchatel Asphalte Co., Ltd., who will put a new surface down three inches thick. The contract price is £995.
