STOLE A COAT

THEFT THAT COST £5 John Sheahan had “had a few,” but not sufficient to keep him warm, so he went into a billiard-room the night before last and walked out with an overcoat belonging to Leo Vegar. When he was charged with the theft in the Police Court this morning, Mr. J. J. Sullivan, who appeared for Sheahan, told the court that he had a bad wound in the head, and suggested that a tine and a prohibition order would meet the case. The accused was supporting his mother, counsel said. On this condition Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., fined Sheahan £3 with £2 costs, with a promise of 14 days in gaol if he did not pay.
