SLAUGHTERING STOCK

USE OF ABBATOIKS NONE IN DISTRICT (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, To-day. Reserved judgment has been delivered by Mr. Justice Stringer in the appeal of Brent’s, Ltd., against the decision of the Rotorua magistrate, Mr. W. G. Kenrick, S.M., when proceedings were brought by T. O. Blakeley, Rotorua Borough inspector, against the defendant company on a charge of slaughtering stock for human consumption elsewhere than in a registered abbatoir. The judgment stated that the facts showed that the appellant company slaughtered stock in the County of Rotorua and a registered abbatoir was in the borough. The case was entirely different from killing taking place in a district where there was a registered abbatoir. Defendant did not slaughter in the district concerned, and the appeal was allowed, with €7 7s costs.
